Xenon Flash Tube, also called flash lamp, is an electric discharge lamp. It is designed to provide very intense, incoherent and full-spectrum white light for very short durations. It was made of long glass tube with electrodes at both ends. It was filled with xenon gas which emits a short and very bright flash of white light when a high voltage is applied. With many kind of ionized gases, xenon flash tube emit light in various spectral lines including UV, blue, green, red, and IR portions of the spectrum. Flash tubes are used mostly for photographic purposes but are also employed in scientific, medical and industrial applications. Usually, xenon flash tube is brighter than the LED lighting found in most camera phones. However they cannot be used as video light and the condenser they use as a power source needs some time to recharge after each shot.
