Today and future communication technology demands fast, efficient and safe performance in the data communication process. Large and complex databanks all interconnected must be able to receive and transmit data without outside interferences. The fiber optic adaptor is the right solution for such complex systems. A fiber optic adaptor has a panel opening providing a shielded connection between two fiber optic connector. Each has an associated fiber optic line. The adaptor comprises a housing formed from a conductive material and includes a multi-part fitting that includes an alignment sleeve. Opposing parts of he fitting are mechanically coupled together. The adaptor also comprises latching recesses on the housing for engaging the fiber optic connector. The conductive material of the housing inhibits electromagnetic interference leakage through the panel opening. Fiber optic adaptor and adaptor panels are compatible with patch panels from most manufacturers including Lucent, Corning, Leviton, ADC, Sign Amax and Superior.
