CCFL, also called Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lamp, is constituted by lamp(glass tube), vacuum or gas filling, phosphor, Ar+Ne gas, electrode, lead Wire, UV(254nm~365nm), hg, electron. A backlight is a form of illumination used in liquid crystal displays (LCDs). As LCDs do not produce light themselves (unlike for example Cathode ray tube (CRT) displays), they need illumination (ambient light or a special light source) to produce a visible image. Generally speaking, there are three mainly LCD backlight source, EL, CCFL and LED at present, with side or vertical position source. So in the light of CCFL backlight, CCFL acts as the lighting source for LCD. CCFL backlight is mainly composed by light source, diaphragm, light leading board and plastic frame. It is featured with ultra brightness, long lifespan and perfect performance etc. As far as application area is concerned, EL and LED are used in small size and single color display (red or green). It is widely applied as fluorescent Lamps. Recently white light (panchromatic) EL and LCD have come into being. Because of lower brightness they are used in less than 4 inches LCD screen such as mobile phone, PDA, game machine etc. However, for panchromatic (white light), big dimension or high brightness, CCFL is the best choice. Moreover, many years technique research has made CCFL much mature, reliable, stable capacity.
